After spending a couple of years working as a freelancer, focusing on 3D and interactive projects for Multigraf Studio (DPuntoGrafico), I made the decision to fully dedicate myself to Web Design and Flash technology. I began my journey in a small company called PublyMedia, then joined LaVinia (InteraccionBcn), and more recently, I’ve been working at an eLearning company named 3iMultimedia as a Multimedia Designer and Web Designer.

Flash was a significant part of my professional life for several years. I must admit that I miss the timelines, keyframe actions, the dynamic text animations, and the creative ways of crafting web and multimedia experiences that Flash allowed. I even built a remarkable website using Flash, drawing inspiration from the likes of 2AdvancedStudios and PrayStation. This website, which I named ‘Vision Graphics,’ helped me attract numerous clients and undertake a considerable number of projects involving Flash-based websites, multimedia content, games, and interactive experiences.

Balancing Office Work and the Freelance World

Throughout my career, I always maintained office employment, but my passion led me to join ‘The Cave,’ a team of top-tier freelancers and seasoned professionals.

As the digital landscape evolved, with Flash technology on the decline and the rise of HTML5, I made the transition to freelance Web Design. Several factors played a role in this decision:

1. The shift away from Flash due to YouTube and mobile technology.
2. The emergence of jQuery, signaling the importance of CSS in web development.

This shift introduced me to a world of creativity beyond the confines of a traditional office. I embarked on projects that connected me with diverse people and carried profound messages, infusing my work with a deeper sense of purpose.

The Agency

After several years of working independently, I joined forces with my old friend Johnn. Together, we delved into Interface Designs, Web Design, Mockups, Product Design, and later, WordPress. Our collaboration led us to tackle more extensive projects involving serious programming, custom software, and WordPress development. Through platforms like Guru, we garnered a substantial workload and established connections with talented partners like Jon, spanning across Iceland, Sweden, and the UK.

Over time, Jon and I developed our unique approach to delivering web and design services to a diverse clientele in the UK, USA, Canada, Sweden, and France. We adopted a strategy of using customized WordPress and the Genesis Framework for our web design projects.

Working closely together each day, we maintained a focus on delivering high-quality projects for our clients. We operated as an agency for nearly 7 years until we took a significant step forward by founding our first dedicated team, JontusMedia. As we expanded, we eventually rebranded ourselves as Moondog, upholding the agency’s tradition of delivering exceptional projects to clients of all types.

The journey to success was marked by hard work, a passion for quality, and a commitment to our craft, lasting until 2017.

Between the Frontend and a Life of Firefighting

After dedicating a substantial amount of time, nearly a year and a half, to the demanding role of a Frontend Developer and Web Designer in a small company based in Spain, I gained valuable experience with platforms such as WordPress, Prestashop, and a wide range of tools for Web Design and Email Marketing.

Having faced daily challenges for almost two years, I made the decision to pursue a path of excellence. I chose to explore opportunities with e-commerce or technology-focused companies, as I sought a more fitting environment for my diverse skill set.

During our collaboration with Moondog and JontusMedia Agency, we were the chosen Web Developers and Web Designers for VistaPrint. This partnership allowed us to engage in various WordPress projects and laid the foundation for a strong and collaborative relationship. Subsequently, I had the opportunity to join VistaPrint’s Creative Team, working on a LiveText email templating project.

Following this initial experience, I contributed to the development of Online Display HTML5 components for animated banners, which led to my involvement in multiple teams as a Channel Designer, Online Designer, and WordPress SuperAdmin/Lead Designer.

This journey of creativity and technical expertise became more evident as I evolved within the Email Marketing Team, Content Marketing Team, and worked on WordPress, CSS3, and Online Display (Video/HTML5/Social Media) projects for nearly two years. Over the past 4 to 5 years, my role has revolved around Vista Brand Evolution, focusing on migrating over 2500+ articles to new templates using Native Blocks to manage a custom-made WordPress Design System. This entailed training teams, fostering effective communication with various departments and global teams, and ensuring seamless integration with the latest Design Systems introduced during the migration.

I’m truly passionate about being part of this Creative Team, and I remain committed to delivering the best results for Vista and our broader company. In an industry that demands excellence and constant innovation, it’s vital to feel at home in a profession that we’ve dedicated our lives to.
